“Filming video material with Mercy Ships on the dockside in Ghana was one of the most important experiences of my life. These guys are the most selfless, loving and committed aid workers I have ever met. They make a huge difference in the lives of some of the world’s most desperate and needy people. I witnessed blind people receiving their sight, broken women with fistulas recover their dignity, hideous tumours removed from the faces of children. I have no doubt the skills and learnings the Kiwi Mercy Ships volunteers learn while onboard the Africa Mercy are a huge long-term investment in our nation’s ability to heal its own and to go on healing others. “

“Mercy Ships is good news in action with its hospital ship, Africa Mercy, bringing First World surgical and medical care right to the doorstep of some of the poorest people on the planet. I’m proud to say there’s always been a strong New Zealand connection with Mercy Ships and, over the years, hundreds of compassionate Kiwi volunteers have served as doctors, nurses, dentists, teachers, officers or crew. But thousands of Kiwis have also helped behind the scenes, offering financial support and by telling family and friends about this remarkable venture. Spreading the word about Mercy Ships is something we can all do and, with your help, this good news story will continue to be told. “
