On 24 February a tax bill granting recognition to Mercy Ships NZ received Royal assent.
The passing into law of the Taxation (Annual Rates for 2015-16, Research and Development, and Remedial Matters) Bill allows Mercy Ships New Zealand (MSNZ) to issue tax receipts for, all donations – including those designated for work overseas. The recognition is backdated to 1 April 2015.
The recognition granted to MSNZ brings to a conclusion considerable effort over a number of years by MSNZ Staff and supporters including a major legal firm which provided its service pro bono. For this significant contribution we are very grateful.
