Signing up to volunteer on the world’s largest civilian hospital ship for two years is a remarkable step of faith and generosity. 

Charlotte explains, “Volunteering with Mercy Ships is a huge step of faith for me. God calls us even though we may not feel fully prepared.  Walking into a completely new environment, in West Africa, means having full trust in God.”

Charlotte will be part of the medical crew, serving as a pre-operative nurse. 

“Nursing has been a God-driven path for me, and I’m delighted to be able to honour God in this.  At the beginning of my nursing journey, I never thought that I could take on a role like this.  As I enter my sixth year of care-giving and bringing hope as a nurse, I feel that God really knew what He was doing when He called me.  I am excited to serve and use skills I’ve developed because of what He inspires within me.”

“I’ll be serving on board as a pre-operative nurse, so my main job will be assessing patients before surgery.

People may have health conditions they’re not aware of so it’s crucial we do thorough assessments to make sure they’ll be safe through surgery and anaesthetic.”

The Global Mercy will be docked back in Sierra Leone – one of the poorest nations on earth – during her first field service, and Charlotte needs your help to get there!
